What are sessions like?

Every mother arrives with a different doorway. We don't force the process—we get curious about what's asking for attention.

Session Example 1: "I don't know who I am anymore."

A session for identity shifts, grief, and reconnecting with yourself

A mother comes in saying:

"I love my child, but I feel like I've disappeared."

We might explore:
  • What parts of you feel far away right now?

  • What did you love before motherhood that you miss?

  • What identities have been put on pause?

  • What emotions come up when you imagine making space for yourself again?

We might use:
  • Somatic practices to notice where "lostness" lives in the body

  • IFS to meet the parts that say "there isn't room for you anymore"

  • Gentle reflection around who you are becoming

The goal isn't to "find your old self."

It's to begin building a relationship with the person you are now.

Session Example 2: "I know what I need, but I can't seem to do it."

A session for overwhelm, patterns, and nervous system support

A mother comes in saying:

"I know I need help. I know I need rest. I know I need boundaries. But I can't seem to make it happen."

Instead of jumping straight into solutions, we get curious:
  • What happens inside when you imagine asking for help?

  • What are you protecting yourself from?

  • What does your body do when you feel overwhelmed?

  • What old beliefs are showing up?

We might practice:
  • Tracking sensations in the body

  • Meeting the protective parts that keep you in survival mode

  • Building tiny moments of regulation and choice

Because often the problem isn't that mothers don't know what to do.

It's that their systems don't yet feel safe enough to do something different.

Session Example 3: "Something happened and I can't move through it."

A session for processing birth, motherhood transitions, and difficult experiences

A mother comes in carrying:

  • A difficult birth experience

  • A challenging postpartum period

  • A rupture in a relationship

  • A moment where she feels she "failed"

We might explore:
  • What story did you make about yourself from this experience?

  • What part of you is still holding that moment?

  • What does your body remember?

Using trauma-informed somatic practices, we gently create space for:
  • The grief

  • The anger

  • The fear

  • The unmet needs

Not to relive the experience.

To help the body and mind recognize that the experience is no longer happening.

Session Example 4: "I want to feel more like myself."

A session for reconnecting with joy, desire, and aliveness

A mother comes in saying:

"I don't even know what I like anymore."

We might explore:
  • What makes you feel awake?

  • What are your "lampposts"?

  • Where does your body feel most like home?

  • What parts of yourself have been waiting for attention?

We might bring in:
  • Movement
  • Music

  • Creativity

  • Play

  • Embodied experiments

Because sometimes healing isn't just about processing pain.

Sometimes it's about remembering what lights you up.

Session Example 5: "I want to change how I show up with my family."

A session for relationships, activation, and patterns

A mother comes in saying:

"I keep reacting in ways I don't like."

We might slow down the moment:
  • What happened right before the reaction?

  • What did you feel in your body?

  • What part of you took over?

  • What is that part trying to protect?

Using IFS and somatic tools, we practice:
  • Creating more space between activation and response

  • Understanding patterns with compassion

  • Building new choices

No two sessions look exactly the same. Sometimes we move, sometimes we talk, sometimes we get curious about a part of you that has been working really hard behind the scenes. Sometimes we laugh. Sometimes we sit with something tender. Every session is an opportunity to practice coming home to yourself.
